Bill Dudley Shocker: Ex-NY Fed President Urges Fed's Powell To Prevent Trump Re-election
Tue, 08/27/2019 - 08:49https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-08-27/bill-dudley-shocker-ex-ny-fed-president-urges-feds-powell-prevent-trump-re-electionhttps://archive.fo/kG8aG
At the start of August, we explained how - by scapegoating the global economy for the Fed's July 31 rate cut - the central bank had now trapped itself, having certified before the world that any further escalations in Trump's trade war are effectively a justification for more rate cuts. Whether this was Powell's intention is unclear, although as we said at the time, "it certainly means that Trump is now de facto in charge of the Fed's monetary policy by way of US foreign policy, and it also means that as BofA wrote, "the Fed is unintentionally underwriting the trade war."
Here, the only thing one can perhaps add is that the Fed may very well be intentionally underwriting Trump's trade war. In either case, as Bank of America's chief economist Michelle Meyer said, such a circular framework is a problem for many reasons, and as the bank admits, it is worried about an adverse feedback loop where the trade war hinders economic growth, therefore prompting additional Fed easing, which in turn allows for greater trade war escalation.
Fast forward to today, when in what in retrospect may be seen as a watershed moment in exposing just how "political" the Federal Reserve always has been despite repeated lies by various officials claiming otherwise, none other than former Goldman chief economist and the former head of the NY Fed, Bill Dudley, after looking at the chart above and having realized that the Fed is underwriting Trump's trade war, made a "modest proposal" in a Bloomberg op-ed in which he advised Powell to take a political stand against enabling Trump's trade war, and potentially go so far as to push the economy into a recession to prevent Trump from getting reelected!
>>240427>potentially go so far as to push the economy into a recession to prevent Trump from getting reelected!
The financial bubble has to burst one way or another, the issue is when. Before or after the reelection is the struggle between the factions at play.
>Queen agrees to suspend UK Parliament as Johnson seeks to deter no-deal Brexit showdown
>Queen Elizabeth II has approved British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s request to suspend Parliament as he seeks to curtail the body’s ability to block a no-deal exit from the European Union (EU).>Johnson’s push to suspend the legislative body while many members are on vacation sparked intense backlash.
>“Shutting down Parliament would be an offense against the democratic process and the rights of Parliamentarians as the people’s elected representatives,” said John Bercow, Speaker of the Lower House of Commons, according to The Associated Press.>“Surely at this early stage in his premiership, the prime minister should be seeking to establish rather than undermine his democratic credentials and indeed his commitment to Parliamentary democracy.”>Johnson, a populist firebrand, rose to international prominence after emerging as one of the staunches advocates for Brexit, saying the United Kingdom was too economically tied to the EU.>“I am appalled at the recklessness of Johnson's government, which talks about sovereignty and yet is seeking to suspend parliament to avoid scrutiny of its plans for a reckless no deal Brexit,” Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn said Wednesday, adding that he had reached an agreement Tuesday with several opposition party leaders to “prevent this smash and grab against our democracy.”http://archive.is/b2Znv

Lead US Prosecutor In Epstein's 2008 Case Unexpectedly Resigns
Thu, 08/08/2019 - 20:25https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-08-08/lead-us-prosecutor-epsteins-2008-case-unexpectedly-resignshttps://archive.fo/7SGG8
Something big is about to hit in the Jeffrey Epstein drama, which in recent days has quietly slipped to the last page in the local media.
Moments ago, the Miami Herald whose reporting in 2018 reincarnated the Epstein pedogate scandal, reported that Marie Villafaña, the lead federal prosecutor who helped negotiate the controversial plea deal for accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, has submitted her resignation to the Justice Department.
Villafaña’s lawyer, Jonathan Biran, confirmed her resignation to the Miami Herald, saying that she has long planned to transition to a legal career in healthcare, and now plans to join the federal Department of Health and Human Services, because allegedly, she handled a number of healthcare fraud cases in South Florida in recent years.
The Week in Tech: How Does 8chan Whack-a-Mole End?
By Jamie Condliffe Aug 9, 2019https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/09/technology/8chan-shootings.htmlhttps://archive.fo/72lPr
Cloudflare, an internet infrastructure and cybersecurity company that served 8chan, wavered over how to react. Ultimately it decided to stop providing its services to the site, leaving 8chan vulnerable to crippling cyberattacks. Cloudlfare’s chief executive, Matthew Prince, wrote that 8chan’s “lawlessness” had “contributed to multiple horrific tragedies.”
If 8chan was a mole, it was whacked.
So the site used Epik, another infrastructure company. The mole re-emerged! Briefly. Voxility, a company that provides computing services to Epik, was criticized for helping to support 8chan, so it dumped Epik, indirectly whacking 8chan again.
What now? Well, someone will almost certainly give 8chan a new lease of life. That might be on a crummy server in Russia, or elsewhere.
Even so, it may not come back full throttle. Leaders of the House Homeland Security Committee have called on Jim Watkins, the owner of 8chan, to “provide testimony regarding 8chan’s efforts to investigate and mitigate the proliferation of extremist content.” So it’s possible that 8chan may yet see its hyper-free-speech sensibilities crimped, at least a little.
If that happens, it’s likely to drive a hard core of alt-right users elsewhere. That’s clearly not as easy as it once was, but an 8chan alternative could surface.
Another possibility: “These kinds of communications could move into encrypted environments,” like Telegram or WhatsApp, said Andrew Sullivan, the president and chief executive of the Internet Society, a global nonprofit. “What happens then is you can’t whack the mole, because the mole doesn’t come out of the hole.”
Such marginalization “could reduce the reach of these communities,” said Rasmus Nielsen, a professor of political communication at Oxford University. But “it could increase cohesion inside the hard core,” he added. It’s hard to know what might be the dominant force.
All told, the takedowns have created immense uncertainty. And that raises a profound question: Who should be making such big decisions about what stays online?
Does humanity deserve freedom or fascism? and what is a cycle?
>4chan and 8chan are "antifragile" systems. The constant shitposting and the anonymous nature of the contributors of intelligence data result in "environmental stressors" that cause the system to evolve and harden against attack and "semantic pollution". #WINNING for good reasons.
Altho they aren't anti-fragile when they have a single point of failure called Cloudflare.
State Department worker quits because of failed resistance to Trump policies
by Julio Rosas | August 09, 2019 07:42 PMhttps://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/state-department-worker-quits-because-of-failed-resistance-to-trump-policieshttps://archive.fo/3rYjz
In an op-ed published by the Washington Post, the U.S. Foreign Service's Chuck Park laid out the reasons why he is resigning from the State Department, including what he calls a lack of resistance from within the ranks to President Trump's policies.
Park said liberals and conservatives are wrong to assume there are people in the federal bureaucracy who are working to undermine Trump, so much so that he nicknamed it the "The Complacent State," a play on the term "Deep State."
"Over three tours abroad, I worked to spread what I believed were American values: FREEDOM!, fairness and tolerance. But more and more I found myself in a defensive stance, struggling to explain to foreign peoples the blatant contradictions at home," Park wrote.
He said, if anything, "what I have not seen is organized resistance from within. To the contrary, two senior Foreign Service officers admonished me for risking my career when I signed an internal dissent cable against the ban on travelers from several majority-Muslim countries in January 2017. Among my colleagues at the State Department, I have met neither the unsung hero nor the cunning villain of Deep State lore."
He added, "If the resistance does exist, it should be clear by this point that it has failed."
Park pointed to a New York Times op-ed that called for the public shaming of the “midlevel functionaries who make the system run" and said people should be "named and shamed" for following Trump's orders.
"Every day, we refuse visas based on administration priorities. We recite administration talking points on border security, immigration and trade. We plan travel itineraries, book meetings and literally hold doors open for the appointees who push Trump’s toxic agenda around the world."
He came to the decision to resign after last weekend's El Paso, Texas mass shooting at the hands of a gunman "whose purported 'manifesto' echoed the inflammatory language of our president." He indicated he would not be able to justify to his 7-month-old son why he was working in the administration.

>A Lancaster County man who made a “gun-like hand gesture” at his neighbor committed a crime, according to a Pennsylvania Superior Court ruling.
>Stephen Kirchner, 64, of Manor Township, was charged last year with summary disorderly conduct for the gesture, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office. The gesture prompted the neighbor to call 911.>“Kirchner argued on appeal that the gesture did not cause a hazardous or physically offensive condition, that he did not intend to cause public alarm, and that there essentially was no harm done to the victim or society,” a statement from the DA’s Office said. >However, the high court found the gesture of imitating the firing and recoiling of a gun “risked an altercation” and supported the charge. The neighbor also reported feeling insecure, which is why the call to 911 was placed.

The fact that this is a picture from a commercial drone as opposed to a picture of a news story about a dead politician is how I know this is kike propaganda because if they really did have the ability to bypass the security around that office and were able to have attempted an assasination with a bomb or similar device, a smart group would have kept that capability to themselves instead of burning an avenue at assasination by alerting their target to the fact that their security needs beefing up in a specific area.

Okay a few interesting things from the Jim Watkins interview.
* He mentions specifically what national intel agencies he has not worked with and seemed to be suggesting he does worrk with others. later he admits working with the FBI, so that makes sense.
* He plans on bringing back 8chan "in a few days"
* He has been working on a project to make the site deplatform resistant. Perhaps related to:
mentions TBA: Project Odin
* He makes recommendations for setting up a mechanism for site owners to submit information to the gov.
* He is dedicated to getting the site back up because he fears it will be seen as a victory and lead to the same process on other sites. The site makes him $12k a year but the internet wide threat implied makes him dedicated to getting it back up despite the low income because of his ethical views.
The wheels are churning on making usable, distributed, attack resistant internet sites. I wonder how this will end up.

This whole thing has been a complete shambles.
I'm starting to think Brexit never will happen anymore. They will say they didn't get a deal they could live with and just remain a member pretending the vote never happened. If they had balls they would have a 2nd referendum asking people if the people want to leave one the deal negotiated (dictated by the EU), or if people want to leave without a deal going with WTO and becoming an truly independent nation again. But if there is a 2nd referendum they will ask people if they want the EU to dictate the policies without any thing to say, or to remain a member.
But can Boris say "fuck it" and do nothing, ask for nothing, and force a no deal Brexit?
I'd like to think they couldn't just remain without at least attempting to fudge a vote on it, that's political and possibly literal suicide, especially since we're near a date popularised by a guy attempting to blow up parliment.
2nd referendum is likely but it wont solve anything people-wise, even with the flood of propaganda, poll fuckery and blatant government support for staying the percentage vote share of leaving vs staying has barely moved.
If a second vote has 'remain' on it in any form it'll get (rightly) decried as a stitchup and people will react accordingly, possibly with violence.
>But can Boris say "fuck it" and do nothing, ask for nothing, and force a no deal Brexit?
Our extremely stupid and/or treasonous government essentially made that illegal on our end.
So he technically could, but then he'd be sacked, jailed and his replacement would request an extension to article 50 anyway.
>>242742>So he technically could, but then he'd be sacked, jailed and his replacement would request an extension to article 50 anyway.
A cause worthy of going to jail for. And once Article 50 has played out its role I don't think there is any legal framework for asking for an retroactive extension after the deadline has run out. But they probably will find a way or just change the law.
The Brexit party will do extremely well in the next UK election.
>>242743>I don't think there is any legal framework for asking for an retroactive extension after the deadline has run out.
There isnt, the whole point of article 50 providing a definitive date was supposed to prevent this kind of bullshit dithering, but by that same token there is nothing saying the PM must be the one to request the extension, nor is there anything stopping the EU from just arbitarily extending the deadline.

Looks like the Democrats is going to try to remove Kavanaugh in an attempt to avoid stacking the supreme court with additional judges as their initial plan was when, and if, they ever won the presidential election again.
>Democratic candidates demand Kavanaugh’s impeachment after new allegation in Times piece
>Democratic presidential candidates on Sunday demanded that Supreme Court Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh be investigated or impeached in response to a new allegation that he exposed himself to a female classmate at a drunken dorm party years ago at Yale University.>The allegation surfaced Saturday night in a New York Times report. A classmate, Max Stier, said he saw Kavanaugh with his pants down at the party, where friends pushed Kavanaugh’s p***s into the young woman’s hand, the Times reported. Stier notified senators and the FBI before Kavanaugh’s confirmation, but the FBI did not investigate, the Times reported. >Stier, the chief executive of a nonpartisan group in Washington, declined to comment Sunday. A court spokeswoman said Kavanaugh had no comment. The woman did not return a call seeking comment.
>On Sunday morning, President Trump tweeted that Kavanaugh should “start suing people, or the Justice Department should come to his rescue.” >“The lies being told about him are unbelievable. False Accusations without recrimination. When does it stop? They are trying to influence his opinions. Can’t let that happen!” Trump tweeted. >Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) wrote that the “far left’s willingness to seize on completely uncorroborated and unsubstantiated allegations during last year’s confirmation process was a dark and embarrassing chapter for the Senate.” >Impeachment calls came from Sen. Kamala D. Harris (D-Calif.), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), former congressman Beto O’Rourke (Tex.) and former housing and urban development secretary Julián Castro, all presidential candidates.
>The Times on Saturday identified the witness as Stier, chief executive of the Partnership for Public Service. The Times story was based on research for a book, “The Education of Brett Kavanaugh: An Investigation,” by two of its reporters. According to the book, at least two senators on the Judiciary Committee learned of Stier’s allegations.
>Mike Davis, who was chief counsel for Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) during the Kavanaugh nomination process, said that to the best of his knowledge, Grassley’s office has no record of Stier reaching out with his allegation. >“Even if we did receive an allegation from Mr. Stier as described by the New York Times reporting, it is difficult to see how this unsubstantiated hearsay, ‘corroborated’ by anonymous sources, involving an alleged victim who other unnamed sources said does not even remember the event, would have changed the outcome of the confirmation vote,” said Davis, who now leads the Article III Project, an advocacy group that promotes Trump’s judicial picks. http://archive.is/cZcXm
they'll never get anywhere with it. you need 2/3rds of the Senate to remove a judge from the Supreme Count. the democrats are in the minority and they would have to have convince 20 GOP republican senators to vote for removal.
they can impeach because they control the House and only need a simple majority but they need 2/3rds of the Senate for removal. flipping 20 republicans in an election year will never happen.
the democrats have fuck all nothing for a platform so they retread this shit because they have nothing else. maybe they don't like the internal polling data for women so they want to pound this story again.
whatever their reason it's pretty pathetic and the signs of a of dead party.
Looks like the story have backfired rather spectacularly.
>Times reporters blame editors for omission in Kavanaugh story
>The two New York Times reporters who revealed a new sexual misconduct allegation against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh blamed the paper’s editors for a critical piece of information not appearing in their original story. >Reporters Robin Pogrebin and Kate Kelly said in an interview on MSNBC that they wrote in the draft of their Sunday Review piece that a woman who Kavanaugh was said to have exposed himself to while a student at Yale had told others she had no recollection of the alleged incident.
>The article prompted calls from leading Democrats, including presidential candidates Elizabeth Warren and Julian Castro, for Kavanaugh’s impeachment.>But the paper’s handling of Kavanaugh piece has also come under widespread scrutiny, with criticism of the Times for publishing Pogrebin and Kelly’s new reporting in a Sunday Review essay, rather than the paper’s news pages, and its promotion of the piece with a now-deleted tweet that appeared to make light of allegations against Kavanaugh. >Both liberals and conservative critics have accused the paper of bungling the story, with President Donald Trump calling Monday night for the resignation of everybody involved in “the Kavanaugh SMEAR story.”
>MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell asked the reporters if anyone at the Times considered mentioning in the editor’s note that the detail was in their original draft, as that “would have been clarifying for people wondering how this happened.”>“I’m not sure if they did or not,” Kelly responded. “I think the desire was just to get the information out to the reader, not to focus too much on the process. Obviously, there had been an error of judgment that was being addressed.” http://archive.is/lyoc7

Seriously. Do you believe that that is how it work?
It is more than clear that both parties are actually one, and their members do as told. A (((plutocracy))) funds both sides and tells them what to do and what line to tow.
And going back to the members of the Supreme Court, think about what the court is about. Their members are the ultimate "public" gatekeepers of the rules for the plebs (laws) dictated by the oligarchs; the push to remove Kavanaugh may be an intent by some oligarch faction to impose their candidate over him, but also taking into consideration that "democracy" is a farce, it might be another loud distraction as well
